The Release Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and controlling the movement of releases to test and live environments. The primary goal is to ensure that the integrity of the live environment is protected and that the correct components are deployed smoothly.
The Release Manager will coordinate the release of software updates, application packages, and infrastructure changes across multiple environments. This role acts as a bridge between development/project teams and operations, managing the release lifecycle, scheduling deployment windows, ensuring thorough testing has occurred, and verifying that rollback plans are robust.
· Release Lifecycle Planning: Define, maintain, and publish the organization's enterprise Release Calendar, aligning deployments to minimize impact on core business cycles.
· Deployment Readiness Review: Conduct Go/No-Go readiness reviews prior to major deployments, ensuring QA sign-offs, security approvals, and business validations are met.
· Coordination of Deployments: Coordinate release day execution, managing the communication flow, deployment steps, and verification procedures across engineering teams.
· Rollback Planning: Ensure every deployment plan contains a validated rollback or contingency plan in case of critical production failures.
· Release Tooling & Automation: Collaborate with development teams to standardize release packages, promote deployment automation, and improve pipeline efficiency.
· Post-Release Evaluation: Participate in post-release reviews to assess the success of deployments and refine release checklists and procedures.
· Staying up to date on relevant technologies and business processes.
