Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the CFO in all areas relating to accounting functions for Auxis. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. The Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and will supervise the Accounting team. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation with accompanying reconciliations as well as local in-country reporting, and provide financial analysis as directed. This position must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Fully responsible for delivering the general ledger, properly reconciled with supporting documentation
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of local government monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
• Ensure that customer invoices are issued timely and accurately.
• Perform monthly Bank reconciliations.
• Review and approve all AP vouchers for proper coding.
• Assist with financial and tax audits, including Procomer and the local government.
• Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Review and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Provide technical support to outside auditors and governmental program auditors
• Responsible for the annual tax package for Procomer and local income tax (Ministerio de Hacienda)
• Responsible for the customs process of the Fixed Assets and equipment
• Conversion and proper keeping of the Financial Statements to local currency.
• Responsible for local legal books.
• Review local insurance policies.
• Oversee cash applications.
• Supervise Fixed Assets Inventory Control.
• Prepare various Costa Rica local government reports
• Provide financial analysis as directed.
• Work with individual departments to prepare budgets and consolidate them into one overall corporate budget
• Prepare internal reports for executive leadership and support their decision-making
• Ensure month-end close package and variance analysis is completed
• Create, update, and maintain financial models and detailed forecasts of the company’s future operations
• Identify and understand business challenges; propose and create solutions.
• Dive deeply into financial data and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights.
• Identify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year expenses, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

Skills and Experience

English - Spanish Language (Oral and written B2+ or above).

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a supervisory position in accounting
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel)
• Knowledge of Great Plains is a plus
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to work independently
• Team-oriented person who can focus on the details. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to deal effectively with tight month-end closing process
• Demonstrates initiative to follow up on pending issues and organize assigned work
• Ability to research, collect, assimilate, retain, and analyze business information, including diagnosis and correction of the problem
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & Spanish
