Job Summary

The Accounting Lead will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including managing the resources who are performing the administrative tasks associated with the company, such as purchasing, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, cash application, payroll, account reconciliations, financial reporting, maintaining accounting records, establishing and maintaining adequate financial controls, closing the books, developing budgets and ensuring the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The Accounting Lead will report to the Accounting Supervisor or Account Manager.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery Management

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by the accounting team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and enhance financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, identify trends and recommend actions for improvement.


Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, performance evaluations, managing performance workload distribution.
  • Performs regular huddles to ensure clear goals for work assigned, clearing backlog, and team performance vs operational standards.
  • Monitor Team Productivity and QA to ensure alignment with operational standards.
  • Be the first level of support for assigned staff and troubleshoots exceptions as they occur.
  • Complete minimum monthly 1:1 with direct reports in order to provide feedback and coaching.
  • Provides training to new team members and ensures that members are ready to start production.


Operational Management

  • Acts as backup for supervisor when needed
  • Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations, tax laws, and GAAP principles.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process and address any audit findings.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, system enhancements, and efficiency gains within the accounting function.
  • Ensure process documentation is kept current.
  • Prepare Service Levels reports for areas in scope.
  • Keep BI data and dashboard updated.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in accounting standards, and implement necessary changes as required.

Skills and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in the Accounting
  • 5+ years' experience in accounting or finance roles, with a strong background in general accounting and financial reporting.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role is required.
    Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of SAP or Oracle is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders..
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
