Job Summary

The Patching Operations Center analyst will be responsible for server OS patch deployment as well as patching standards and processes, to maintain server health across the enterprise environment, while ensuring high levels of system availability according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of system availability and performance. 

Responsibilities

  • Execute the patch management program across the client’s infrastructure.
  • Oversee, track, and schedule all server patches. 
  • Deploy critical and security patches to maintain high system performance, availability, and security. 
  • Evaluate and review patches before and after installation. 
  • Update and maintain enterprise patch maintenance windows. 
  • Create and maintain operational procedures to ensure patching success rates and act as the main point of communication for security patching. 
  • Interface with customers and management to conduct reviews and provide reporting on patching status, identifying trends to improve the overall health of the environment. 
  • Maintain ticket queues for new patching or change requests. 
  • Escalate issues for resolution to appropriate teams when necessary. 
  • Understand alerts for operating system issues, hardware performance, security vulnerabilities, and other basic systems management tasks. 
  • React to events to maintain the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability. 
  • Work closely with the IT Service Desk, Engineering team, and vendors to expedite outage resolution. 

Skills and Experience

Experience:  

  • Experience with the basic administration of Windows servers, including a fundamental understanding of networking infrastructure. 
  • Demonstrated familiarity of Active Directory. 
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related field preferred. (Nice to Have) 

Education:  

  • A High School degree is a prerequisite for this position.  
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT or equivalent working experience. (Nice to Have) 

 

Technical Competencies: 

 

  • Basic knowledge of the ITIL framework. 
  • Solid understanding of Patch Management best practices. 
  • Excellent competency with Azure Update Management, WSUS, and other patching tools, like Manage Engine Endpoint Central. 
  • Good understanding of the Microsoft Security Update Guide portal. 
  • Understanding of Infrastructure Monitoring Services. 
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies. 
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and basic operations. 
  • Proficiency in Az-900.  
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Language Skills:  

 

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (Oral and writing at 85% or higher), with a minimum of B2 level proficiency in both languages being a requirement.
