Job Summary

  • The Governance Engineer M365 – Senior Associate is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing Microsoft 365 governance and compliance controls to ensure enterprise collaboration platforms meet security, regulatory, and risk requirements by default.
  • This role serves as a technical authority for M365 governance, partnering with Collaboration Engineering, Legal, Risk, and Security teams to translate policy into enforceable technical controls.

Responsibilities

Strong expertise in Microsoft 365, Purview, Entra, Intune governance and compliance

  • Deep experience with:

o Microsoft Purview (Retention, eDiscovery, Information Protection)

o Microsoft Intune

o Data lifecycle and records management

  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance concepts (e.g., data privacy, retention obligations)
  • Experience translating policy into technical controls
  • Familiarity with governance tooling, reporting, and automation
  • PowerShell scripting for governance automation preferred

Skills and Experience

  • English level B2+
  • Technical Skills

o Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms

o Deep experience with:

  •  Exchange Online architecture
  • SharePoint Online and OneDrive governance
  • Microsoft Teams services

o Strong understanding of:

  • Identity, access, and information protection
  •  Data retention, eDiscovery, and compliance tooling

o Experience with AvePoint or similar governance/backup platforms

o PowerShell scripting and automation skills preferred

 

  • Professional Skills

o Strong ownership and risk‑based decision‑making

o Ability to communicate governance requirements to technical and non‑technical audiences

o Strong collaboration with Legal, Risk, and Engineering teams

o Mentoring and knowledge‑sharing mindset

 

  • Education / Professional Experience/ Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in M365 governance, compliance, or digital workplace roles
  • Microsoft certifications strongly preferred:

o Microsoft 365 Compliance Administrator

o Information Protection or Risk Management certifications
